Course Feedback

“The goMedic preceptor course was a phenomenal source of adult education. This course fills a gap in paramedic education that hadn't yet been addressed. This course reduces the legal liability of the service taking on students whereby teaching their preceptor medics the foundations of adult education so that when students come to them with complaints, their quality assurance program can cite that in fact the preceptor has been properly trained and are solely responsible for their actions. Paramedic students riding out in a respective service is the best advertising a service can do to find students interested in working for them. By investing in the quality of Preceptorship the student receives, the service directly benefits by increasing a colleges interest in sending their students to the respective service. They also will receive a stronger more capable entry to practice Paramedic entering their service following Preceptorship. I learned several new effective strategies to managing conflict resolution in the adult education setting. I learned the new ways to motivate my students and provide constructive feedback. One of the big take-aways I received from this course was how to provide constructive feedback early and often so that the student is not surprised of how they are doing, how they are being measured and ultimately why the are possibly being deemed unsuccessful.”

“"As an experienced preceptor - it was interesting to have the structure and models of teaching and mentoring put into a more structured framework to facilitate a more comprehensive approach to education of paramedic students. These are lessons that can be used to fall back on to promote the best learning experience and also to mitigate possible complications."”

“Great course! Should be completed by all preceptors, teachers, educators or training officers!”

TG, Training Officer

“Great review. Videos were quite helpful and relevant”

Mike, Preceptor

““For new preceptors and even for experienced, I believe this should be a mandatory course prior to taking on a student. Even with almost 20 years in the field and as an educator there is some new information learned. These modules provide valuable knowledge to pass down skills to start a student on their journey into the field of Paramedicine. A career can start or stop with preceptorship and an instructor who has these tools can provide them with a solid foundation and the mentoring that they require and deserve. Thank you for putting this course together as it has filled a gap in this profession.””
