Senior instructor

Frank began his career in EMS as an ambulance volunteer in 1985. In 1988, he began working part time with North Bay Ambulance Service. He worked for the North Bay Ambulance Service until 2001 when he became the Manager of the South River-Machar Ambulance Service. In 2004, the West Parry Sound Health Centre acquired the operation of all ambulance services in the District of Parry Sound and he accepted a position with Parry Sound District EMS as the EMS Supervisor overseeing the east side of the District, specializing in education development and delivery, quality assurance and Community Paramedicine. In 2019, he became the EMS Manager (Chief) for the District of Parry Sound where he developed a strong leadership team of emerging healthcare leaders, facilitated the growth of the Community Paramedicine program and inspired a culture of integrity, excellence and respect. Over the years he has been involved in training paramedics, working as a regional instructor trainer for the Ministry of Health North East Region Field Office, North Bay General Hospital Base Hospital Program, Northern College and HeartZap emergency training as well as operating a first aid training company. He was also a member of the Ministry of Health Ambulance Service Review Team from 2000 to 2022 working as a paramedic reviewer as well as a management team member. Frank retired from Parry Sound District EMS in 2022 and in his words, "It was a wonderful and very rewarding career."

    Students are evaluated through multiple-choice questions knowledge checks and a final exam. Evaluations are designed not only to assess the student's knowledge but also promote research. Students will receive a certificate upon completion of this course which may be used in your continuing education portfolio for your regulatory body.

  • Flexible learning

    Courses are designed as micro-learning experiences allowing students to easily work through each module in short bursts. This method makes it easier for those with busy schedules to get the most out of their learning. Learning can take place on or off-duty to help alleviate any scheduling challenges. Mobile learning is available.

  • Who is this course for?

    Although this course is designed for Community Paramedics, it is an excellent comprehensive course for other frontline health and wellness professionals. Students will gain a foundational knowledge and feel confident expanding their knowledge in this field through further education. This course is a great addition to your continuing education program. Note: This course is a required course in the Certificate in Community Paramedicine Care program.

  • How long does it take to complete this course?

    Students may complete this course in as little as one month however you will have access to the course for one year.

  • How do I know I will be competent in the content after this course?

    Students receive formative (knowledge check points) and cumulative (final exams) evaluations in each course. Evaluations are based on the content provided in videos, interviews, research papers and required readings. Content is competency-based meaning each course addresses specific competencies necessary for the student to master. Instruction is provided using a range of resources and much of the content is reviewed or taught by healthcare experts in their respective fields for specific courses. We always recommend implementing a continuing education and review routine for yourself to ensure knowledge retention, patient safety and clinical competence and confidence.

  • What are the prerequisite for this program?

    There are no prerequisites for this program however prior health & wellness education is recommended in order to get the most out of this course.
